How we work

A gate is joinery, ironwork and electronics that have to agree with each other.

We start at the driveway, not the brochure. Ground fall, the swing arc, where the cars actually stop, how much daylight the posts can take before they twist. Then the gate is drawn to those numbers.

Automation is specified around the leaf, never the other way round. Underground rams for the heavy timber pairs, articulated arms where the pillars are close, a sliding track when there is no room to swing. Safety edges and photocells as standard, wired so a power cut still lets you out.

The range

Five ways to close a driveway.

Solid timber double gate with diagonal bracing and black hardware on a block-paved drive Charcoal composite bell-top double gate on a paved drive Ornate black wrought iron double gate with scrollwork Grey horizontal-slat contemporary gate Tall black metal sliding security gate at a new-build property

Timber

Iroko, oak or softwood, braced and morticed the traditional way. Warm, heavy, and the one most Yorkshire stone frontages ask for. Underground automation keeps the ironwork clean.

Repairs

Motors, boards, safety edges, snapped hinges and storm damage. Most makes, not only our own installs.

Servicing

An annual visit that greases the pivots, tests the force settings and re-torques the fixings before winter finds the weak one.

Automation upgrades

Adding an intercom, keypad, app control or a second remote to a gate that is already hung and sound.

Send the opening, get a drawing back.

Two photos of the entrance and a rough width are enough to start. We will come and measure properly before anything is quoted.
